Development update: GP immunisation data viewable in PKB records

Adults in England can now view and share a copy of their immunisation data released by their GP within their Patients Know Best (PKB) record. This is the latest phase of our GP data integration first launched in Spring 2025.

GP data is only copied to PKB with the patient’s consent. For patients who have already requested to add their GP data, immunisation data will automatically appear in their PKB record. Over 4 million patients have already chosen to include this information.

Anyone wishing to add their GP data for the first time can find the details here. Once the patient gives consent, PKB will automatically receive future data the GP releases to the patient, each time the patient interacts with PKB.

Benefits

For patients, this gives them a permanent, portable record of their immunisations that moves with them across different care settings. This removes the need for patients to contact their GP surgery for “proof of vaccination” or history printouts, saving time and effort.

For healthcare professionals, this improves visibility of GP data that patients have shared with hospital clinicians – especially important for emergency care workers, who can’t access this using the NHS App. It helps better inform clinical decision making into diagnosis and management plans.

For service providers, this data integration reduces the administrative burden of patients requiring “proof of vaccination” or printouts, saving time and money.
